Scubaliner Waterproof
They used their scuba liner inside which comes in most of their boots today that are marked waterproof. And it’s one of the few liners out there that’s not Gore-Tex but actually works. It keeps the boot nice and waterproof.
Broad Composite Toe
Carolina used a really nice wide oblique composite toe which gives this boot a really nice fit. It’s really generous inside for a pair of safety shoes.
So, what that means is that your pinky and your big toe aren’t going to hit up against the edges of their just because they use that old-fashioned narrow steel toe as you see in a lot of boots.
Cement Construction
This boot is a cement constructed boot, so that means it’s all glued together from the sole up.
Outside of the upper which is all stitched together, this is a directly attached construction boot. So that means it’s going to be lighter weight and it’s going to be more flexible.
AG7 Polyurethane Footbeds
When it comes to the inside of the 5520, Carolina didn’t cut any corners. They use their AG7 footbed. Wick away moisture and soften the stress of your work floor, these are arrow glide 7. This is a really really nice footbed.
But they didn’t stop just with this beautiful insole. Inside they have a pillow cushion.
Now Carolina, years ago when they used to make a wedge sole 8-inch plain toe boot that all the ironworkers wore when it was still made in America, that boot came with a leather pillow cushion.
Carolina mimics that old-fashioned style and puts that in the bottom of this boot. And when you take that with that arrow glide 7, it feels like you’re walking on a cloud.
Moisture Management Technology
Thanks to their unique footbed and moisture management technology, it will keep your feet sweat free. It doesn’t only keep sweat from soaking your feet; it will also make the interior of your composite toe boots ultra-comfortable.
Comfort
This boot is as comfortable as work boots get. It is equipped with non-metallic shanks that support your arches. In addition to that, you’ll also have the EVA midsoles that absorb shock.
I’ve already talked about the special pillow cushion. It has padding from toe to heel. You could say this one is one of the most comfortable work boots out there.
Not only do these boots have padding from toe to heel, but they also come with memory foam that wraps around your feet adding more comfort.
Fit & Size
Now fit and size of this boot. Well, this is one of the few boots in Carolina’s line where they go really low in the sizing. They bring sizes down to a size 7, and they go all the way up to a 16. In multiple widths also.
Carolina’s outsole is oil resistant, slip resistant, and it’s a nice hard material on the surface which is sandwiched to a softer urethane material. It’s incredibly reliable, making it the perfect choice to get some work done.
So, you’re getting a lot of bounce, but you’re getting a lot of durabilities. Carolina also uses a composite shank.
So, you’ve got something there so that you can kick a shovel, so you can climb a ladder, so you can stand on a platform all day with these boots.
Who Is This For?
Now, who do I see wearing this?
Well, this is a perfect workers boot.
You know you’re the guy who’s got to bring the Masons, the bucket of muck. You’re the guy that’s got to bring the bricks around. You’re the guy that’s got to bring the rebar to the ironworkers.
You’re the guy that’s got to carry the drywall up and down the stairs; this is a great work boot for you. This is for somebody who’s going to be moving around all day, who’s got to be ready to go at a moment’s notice.
This is the boot.
