In this article, we’re talking about the Carolina Wedge Sole Wellington American-made boot. So, this is the Carolina CA7004 review. A 10-inch domestic work boot made in American. It is a wedge sole boot, and pretty nice looking isn’t it?

Well, like I said. It is American made. So, it shows all those signs of wonderful American craftsmanship with the fully sewn-down leather welt. That means that this boot is resole-able and re-craft-able — this is a 10-inch domestic work boot with real integrity.

While making their popular lineup of domestic boots, Carolina boot makers follow a rigidly controlled 125 step manufacturing process. That goes to show how well-made their domestic work boots are.

This one right here is no exception. This Wellington wedge work boot is built to last. Thanks to fine components that are sourced worldwide, Carolina achieved a good-looking and durable wedge boot.

Carolina uses this wonderful wedge sole material, Meramec wrapped or polyurethane. And in the world of wedge soles, it feels just as dense and just as soft at the same time as all the other American-made wedge soles.

So, you’re going to get about the same amount of wear out of this boot depending on who you are and what you’re doing.

Leather

The leather that Carolina is using is called a tobacco stampede. And it is soft, it is supple, and it has got that smell of good American leather.

Only good American leather has that certain smell. It smells like the outdoors; it smells like Montana. It gives you that idea of just being out there. It’s just a beautiful boot.

EH & Steel Shank

The boot has an EH rating, but it also comes with a steel shank so you can actually climb a ladder with this wedge and that’s a pretty nice thing in a boot like this.

You got to imagine, the guys buying this boot are going to be electricians, plumbers, and guys that build stuff. You know, they have to weld, cut, and torch. This is going to be the ideal boot for them.

Mainly because of the fact that the CA7004 has got a little bit tighter fit than normal. So, it’s got a real tight heel cup. I mean that thing just narrows right in.

And it narrows in the heel section and it narrows in on top of that. So, this is one of those boots that you’re going to have to put on, you’re going to have to break it in, and once it’s broken in, you’re not going to want to get rid of it.

Inside The Boot

Inside the 7004, we find Carolina’s AG7 footbed. Yeah, this is the DRYZ footbed. This is the really comfortable footbed from Carolina.

Now because the boot is not waterproof, you’ll notice that this ag7 doesn’t have any of those perforations in there. Because this boot is going to breathe, and also because this is just leather and sole.

There are no fancy linings or paddings. They don’t need it. It is because this is such a well-made boot and that is why you can rule out all those extra things, you’ll add to it to kind of cover up the imperfections. Carolina has no need for that. They can build a boot perfectly.

Comfort

Now underneath this, you’re going to find another Poron insole down there. So, you’re going to get not one, not two but three layers of comfort from the sole, the Poron insole, and the AG7.

Size

Now, one of the best things about the CA7004, and I’m sorry I keep calling it that because there really is not a name attached to this boot. And I believe this boot needs a name.

But it’s not up to me to name it, so we’re going to call it the CA7004. But the nice thing about it is it starts at size 7. Yes, 7. Starts at a 7D and it goes up to a 14 D. And they also make it in double E’s from 8 to 14.

So, what you are getting is a boot Union made in the U.S.A. by U.F.C.W. Local 1776, Martinsburg, PA – USA! A boot that stands tall and proud.

With sizes like that, you really get everybody in cover. So, that’s the Carolina CA7004 American made wedge sole pull-on wellington.
