How To Lace Shoes Without Tying? Know the Tricks
Do you want to learn how to keep your sneakers and shoes clean and neat without the bulkiness of the laces on top of the shoes?
Obviously, sneakers are meant to look as minimalistic as possible.
If it’s a pair of white sneakers, then you will need to keep it as minimal as you possibly can. That is because white sneakers are supposed to be super clean and super neat.
And when you tie a knot, it just adds a lot of visual bulk and a lot of distractions on top of the sneakers. And this fact is also true for a pair of wedge sole boots or flat sole shoes.
However, for dress shoes, since the laces are already very thin, they don’t add a lot of bulk to the shoes when you tie them up.
Lacing Shoes Without Tying
There is more to lacing sneakers than what meets the eye. A sneaker lace and the holes provide a lot of function, and I want to share that first.
First of all, let’s understand how the laces hold the shoes.
When you slip on a regular shoe and start tightening the lace and pull the slack up towards the top, you are creating tension. This tension is essentially making your shoes tight. The purpose of the bow knot is to hold the tension that you just created.
The knot is holding the tension in place and preventing the laces from loosening up. That being said, let me show you how to lace shoes without tying. Before I get to that, there are a couple of things you will need to ensure first.
– First of all, you have to make sure that the laces are laced up from the outside in and not from the inside out.
– Make sure to wear your sneakers with socks.
Method 1
with that out of the way, let me show you the easiest method of tying shoelaces without actually tying. The first method that I want to talk about is probably the easiest one to do.
You just simply tuck your laces inside the sneakers before putting them on. The pro of this method is that it is super easy, and it literally does not take any effort at all. You can also apply this method to your wedge or heel shoes as well.
But the con of this method is that it is not super comfortable. This is because you feel that there’s something in your shoes which is the laces, of course. However, if this is something that bothers you, it’s probably not a good idea to go with this method.
Method 2
The second method, which is my preferred method, is to tie the laces beneath the tongue. To do this, all you have to do is to put on your shoes and tie laces as usual.
And then, you just simply tug the laces underneath the tongue off your shoes. And there you go, a super-easy way to make your sneakers look super clean and super neat.
Method 3
This method involves using lace anchors. Let me show you what happens when you have the lace anchors installed. These anchors attach the laces behind the eyelets and prevent any slack from forming.
You can’t pull the laces out because the anchors are keeping them in place. This is literally the only way to lace shoes without tying. With the anchors installed, you no longer have any need for a bow knot. This will make your sneakers look cleaner and more minimal.
With this method, you can slide your foot down into the shoe without having to tie a knot. At this point, you can trim down the extra laces because you won’t be needing them anymore. If you don’t feel confident enough, try running with the anchors installed for a week.
Tips
Now, before you go, there are a couple of pro tips that I want to share with you guys. Here are some of my pro tips when I’m wearing sneakers.
What I always like to do is tie my shoelaces loosely so that I do not have to untie my laces when I’m taking off my shoes; if you tie your shoelaces loosely, you can easily wear them again without having to tie the laces up.
For this, you kind of have to go over some trial and error with the sneakers. You would want your shoes to have a nice fit. You don’t want to wear a pair that is too tight or too loose. This way, you can slip on and off your sneakers easily.
Once you have found your nice medium, you can just leave your laces as they are, and you do not have to worry about your laces anymore.
Final Words
There are many ways available to lace shoes. Also, there are plenty of ways you can make your shoes look like they aren’t tied up.
Some methods involve hiding the knot, while others literally don’t need any tying. Hopefully, now you know how to lace shoes without tying. You can also apply these methods for your boot laces as well.
